Size is the hardest thing to judge from a screen. This page shows you how big each size is next to things you already own, and gives you a simple way to choose a width.

How we measure

The number on every product page is the width

When a sign is listed as 40 inches, that is how wide it is on your wall. Height follows your design — a short word in a tall script font is a very different shape from a long sentence in block letters, even at the same width.

We confirm the exact finished width and height on your digital design proof before anything is built, so you see the real dimensions before you commit.

Finished size is accurate to within 1–2 inches

Each sign is bent and mounted by hand, so the finished piece can land an inch or two either side of the listed size. Leave a little breathing room rather than sizing to the exact inch of your wall.

Longer text needs a bigger sign

Width is shared across every letter. The more words you have, the smaller each letter becomes at a given width — and below a certain point, thin script strokes stop being legible from across the room. The designer shows you the result as you type, and our team will tell you if your wording needs a larger size to read well.

Reference measurements are typical U.S. sizes: a queen bed is 60″ wide, a king 76″, a standard interior door 32″, and a three-seat sofa around 84″. Measure your own furniture before you decide — yours may differ.

How wide should it be?

A simple starting point: choose a sign around 60–75% as wide as the furniture underneath it.

Go narrower for a more subtle accent, or wider when you want the sign to be the focal point of the room. This is guidance, not a rule — trust your own eye and your own wall.

Measure the piece of furniture the sign will hang above, multiply by 0.6 and by 0.75, and look for a listed size inside that range.

Hanging on an open wall with no furniture below? Use the width of the wall instead and aim for the lower end — around 50–60%.

Hang it centered above the headboard. Names, a short phrase or a shape all work — keep the wording short so the letters stay large.

Living room

47–59″

Above the sofa is the natural spot. This is where a wide sign earns its place — it fills the wall instead of floating in it.

Desk & gaming setup

12–24″

You sit close, so it does not need to be large. A gamer tag or a short handle at 20″ reads clearly on camera without dominating the frame.

Bar & man cave

30–47″

Behind the bottles, above the counter, or on the wall opposite the door. Bright colors carry further in a dim room.

Business & storefront

40–71″

A logo behind the counter or in the window needs to read from across the street. Send us your logo and we will tell you the size that keeps every detail legible.

Built to be photographed. A backdrop sign should be wide enough to frame two people standing in front of it.
